Joshua Volz is a career member of the U.S. Department of State, and currently serves as the Senior International Energy Officer for the Middle East and North Africa in the Bureau of Energy Resources. He is responsible for policy direction and analysis of the geopolitics of the region and has specialized in Eastern Mediterranean energy development since 2012. Previously Mr. Volz has worked in the U.S.
Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, and the U.S. Department of Defense with assignments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, and Israel. Mr. Volz lectures at The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and Georgetown University and holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science from Kalamazoo College and an M.S. in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University.
