Alexandros Lagakos

Chief Operating Officer of Blue Grid Gas & Power; Founding Chairman of the Greek Energy Forum

Alex is the Chief Operating Officer of Blue Grid Gas & Power, a company set up to pioneer the small scale LNG industry in the SEE region. At the same time, he is the Founding Chairman of the Greek Energy Forum, an international energy think tank focusing on SE Europe and featuring today 6 global branches.

In the past, Alex has worked for Shell Energy Europe in London, initially in Business Development and then as Chief Analyst and Executive Management Advisor on topics of European gas markets. Prior to Shell, Alex has worked for Gazprom Marketing & Trading as a Strategy Risk Analyst, focusing particularly on national market entries. Alex also possesses consulting experience in energy economics in Mott MacDonald, as well as in PwC as an external advisor.

Moreover, Alex’s expertise extends into shipping, having served as a member of the Chartering Team in Thenamaris Ships Management for 4 years, managing a fleet of almost 100 vessels (oil tankers, LNG carriers, dry bulk, containers).   

Since April-16 he is a member of the United Nations Group of Gas Experts (Sustainable Energy Committee of UN Economic Commission Europe). He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the sea entrepreneurship competition “Blue Growth”.

He holds an MEng in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an MSc on Sustainable Energy Futures from Imperial College in London.
